On February 18, 2025, the Media Advocacy Group (MAG), in collaboration with the High Commission of Canada in India (CFLI), successfully concluded the Dissemination Program under the initiative “Strengthening the Capacity of Nepali Women Journalists in Political and Foreign Affairs Reporting through Training and Fellowship.” The event also featured the release of a comprehensive 2-month Media Monitoring Report, which analyzed daily coverage from seven leading broadsheet newspapers about the media coverage of women politicians .

The program was graced by the presence of distinguished guests and speakers who shared their invaluable perspectives. Ms. Radhika Aryal, Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, attended as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Ian Trites, First Secretary of the High Commission of Canada, joined as the Special Guest. The event also featured insightful contributions from Ms. Nirmala Sharma, President of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ); Mr. BalKrishna Basnet, Chairperson of the Press Council Nepal; Dr. Mahendra Bista, Executive Chairperson of Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSB); Ms. Sangita Khadka, Chairperson of the Minimum Wages Fixation Committee; Mr. Hari Bahadur Thapa, Special Editor of Baahrakhari Media; and Mr. Prakash Rimal, Chief Editor of myRepublica.

This initiative marks a significant step toward empowering Nepali women journalists and enhancing their role in shaping public discourse on political and international issues.
